The Leo/Aquarius Age - (Part IV)
- The Illusory Chasm Between Celebrity and Fan -
The Leo/Aquarius polarity can quite obviously be seen in the illusory relationship between Celebrity and Fan. This era has seen the emergence of an overwhelming and compulsive drive to “be somebody.” We all have this raging me-centeredness, seemingly right from birth. This desire to propel our identity into iconic status before we part with the earth realm. The greatest fear of human beings in this age, is to get lost among the crowd, just another number, a vague nobody, a depressed and aimless vagabond. We want the Light(Leo)! We want to bathe in the adoration of masses of eyes(Aquarius). We have this urgency embedded in us to direct our self will in ways that will raise us above the rest. There are, of course, the Uranian rebels; the outcasts, the renegades, the anarchists. The ones who insist on denying any desire for creative acknowledgement. These types love to slight and mock those who willingly angle to be noticed and admired, to be seen. Regardless, both have the same motivation. To stand out. Either to stand out in the crowd, or to stand outside of the crowd, but either way, they are crying out for a unique identity among the common people. Because human beings have been experiencing the beginning of the Leo/Aquarius age with a fractured/split consciousness, they have fallen victim to the divide between the Solar Star and the Uranian Audience. From birth, our lives are surrounded by this dichotomy. Bombarded by television, movies, music; in the home, in the car, at school, at daycare. If we have Solar parents, then our whole little lives are spent playing dress up and playing pretend with our family and their friends. Children are quite literally raised as little actors/actresses. They must learn manners, how to feign emotion, how to dress according to scene and environment. It’s all a show. We are not encouraged to express our natural emotions and reactions; they are sacrificed for emotions and reactions that reflect what our constant audience (the outside world) wants to see, what will make them happy and comfortable and excited. Then there are the children with the Uranian parents, which means either divergent, weird, genius, or just plain absent. These children grow up without the same Solar structure as their more radiant fellow beings. They don’t fake reactions because they were never taught how. They don’t submit to your need for comfort or stimulation because their parents certainly did not offer them that same luxury. They were expected to make do with whatever chaotic Uranian shock came their way, whether a mother’s mental breakdown or a father’s escape in the night. These children grow up to be the troubled children, the shock to the system. Nothing can be done about their rebelliousness, their willfulness. Because they will not submit to the authority of the Solar principle, they are inevitably outcast and this can lead the less materially fortunate ones into very dangerous places. And then there is a third group of children. These are the grays. They neither shine nor shock, for their parents were simply too burdened by the oppression of a mundane and bleak system to even muster the strength to project Solar perfection, and too disenchanted to do anything revolutionary and Uranian. They simply sit the kids in front of the television. They pack the lunches, they do the dishes, they carry out the utilitarian acts of childcare and daily living but nothing more, nothing less. These are the children who become puppets to be maneuvered any which way the Solar or Uranian desires. They are the Solar Mean Girl’s minions or the Uranian Gangster’s Thugs. What all three of them have in common, is that they seek true and authentic creative will power. They desperately want to know what it is, what it means, what it feels like to have the creative freedom to express from the divine well of color and symbol and sound, within them. The split between Leo and Aquarius becomes a theft after first breath. They are gutted of their authentic Solar Plexus power, in order to fit into society and uphold it as is, even the corrupt aspects, due to the hardened adult’s fear of change. What happens is that Celebrity becomes deified. These celebrities, fellow human beings who were meant to create alongside and in harmony with others, become the “lucky ones” who got the rare chance to follow their creative passion among the crowd of hollow workhorses and numerical identities. The Celebrity then takes on the whole of the light/shadow energy of the audience. They are idolized by others. This idolization is true idolatry, for the human being only idolizes the illusory “Celebrity” because they haven’t forged a union, an intimacy with the Divine and their own, personal well of creative potential. Fan becomes dependent on Celebrity. Celebrity is no longer human. They can no longer be a visceral, living, breathing entity to their audience because their audience has hinged their Divine birthright onto them. If they show any weakness of character, any flaw, any instance of being an evolving and learning and changing human being like the rest of us, they are condemned as the most virulent of enemies. If they do something noble, they take on epic and grandiose status, leaving them vulnerable to a crushing and debilitating fall. The gaze of the audience, is then a kind of rape. The cruel theft of a person’s right to their own story. They are expected to be the story for others, because others sacrificed their own in order to play the system’s dead numbers game; to keep the feeling of security in a group(Aquarius). The energy exchange between a mass audience and a Celebrity is much too enormous of a charge for one person to carry. I think it is the main if not sole reason, that celebrities more frequently experience massive mental and emotional breakdowns. They are quite literally, CRUSHED under the weight of a parasitic mass gaze. Sucked dry. Creativity and Group Mind were never meant to be played out in a situation of one versus the other. Each being is born with a unique and precious talent. Some will say otherwise. I don’t care, it’s phooey. We are meant to create. We are creation. This whole thing is about creation and creating. We want to create. It is the cream in our lives. We are born unique. No one is the same. No one looks the same. Even if there are resemblances, uncanny, their is still no one on earth who is exactly the same. This is such a treasure and so telling of how loving and adoring Solar energy actually is. Uranian energy was never meant to be about blending in for fear of safety, or huddling in groups to keep from exploring and experiencing our own Solar power. The Utopian ideal here, is that every single color, and form, and shape, and size, and sound, and language, and culture, and story, is appreciated and loved. That only then, can the people of each culture feel the freedom to create from love and play and vulnerability, which then compels us to share our creations and our songs and our stories with each other, in an ever evolving(Uranian) festival of celebration. A creative tribe instead of a creative hierarchy. To always be in awe and inspired by Leo love and Aquarian genius. This is the reunion of Eros and Psyche. THE LOVE STORY.
Grace Jones interviewed on ‘The Don Lane Show’ (performs the song ‘Private Life’) – (1982)

- → Aspect: Mercury Conjunct Uranus
- → Example: Grace Jones - american/jamaican supermodel - [Sun in Taurus] - [Moon in Libra] - [Mercury/Uranus in Gemini]
“The mentality is full of fresh words, interesting waves, and different directions to explore. The intellect is electrified with light bulbs suddenly switching on, illuminating the latest trends, patterns, and movements. They think outside of the box. This aspect can represent a person who studies astrology, astronomy, or science - the kind of subjects that allow them to see the entire universe. The mind seeks to explore new things; it longs to be excited by something different and thought-provoking. Current, enlightening interests and shocking insights into familiar topics often abound. The things which catch the individual’s attention are often cooler, futuristic, and high-tech…”

- Harvard Business School - AASU Conference: Kasseem Dean (Swizz Beatz) Interview – (2015)
[ Mercurial Conjunctions and Interviews ]
- → Aspect: Mercury Conjunct Saturn
- → Example: Kasseem Dean [Swizz Beatz] - rapper/music producer - [Sun in Virgo] - [Moon in Aquarius] - [Mercury/Saturn in Virgo]
“This individual is serious in thought, deeply contemplative, and pondering. An aptitude for maths, science, research, politics, education, editing, teaching, or lecturing is usually evident. In later years, they may become a voice of authority in some area of knowledge. As there is a steadying, grounding, and realistic tone to their ideas, it tends to promote methodical thinking. On the psychological level, this aspect can manifest itself towards cynicism, pessimism, and an overly bleak view of life. Mercury-Saturn tends to study something long and hard. There is much that can be achieved through their thoroughness, organized application, and in-depth study. The thinking needs time to mature, for they tend to work better at their own pace and hate to be rushed. The person feels as if they are being tested or judged for their intellectual abilities, and thus works hard to gain proof of their skills in a particular area. Ultimately, the person will never give up until a subject is fully mastered and ideas put into physical reality. With Mercury-Saturn contacts, there is always the need to define; the mind is slow but deep; the person is always very careful to avoid mistakes, being systematic, precise, rational, and objective in thought…”

‘Wogan Meets Madonna’ Interview – (1991)
[ Mercurial Conjunctions and Interviews ]
- → Aspect: Mercury Conjunct Pluto
- → Example: Madonna - singer/songwriter - [Sun in Leo] - [Moon in Virgo] - [Mercury/Pluto in Virgo]
“The Mercury-Pluto individual is keenly perceptive and what they say is often mesmeric, absorbing, and compelling. The mentality is exclusive and obsessive. The mind, as it pursues an idea, tends to become more intense, completely engaging with its subject. Thoughts need to be carried all the way through to resolution. A Mercury-Pluto type can speak with conviction and passion. The speech is effective. It can become incredibly difficult to stop Mercury-Pluto’s train of thought; once a destination is set, it rarely changes course.”

Regis Philbin and Kathie Lee Gifford interview Anna Nicole Smith – (1992)
[ Mercurial Conjunctions and Interviews ]
- → Aspect: Mercury Conjunct Neptune
- → Example: Anna Nicole Smith - american model/television personality - [Sun in Sagittarius] - [Moon in Libra] - [Mercury/Neptune in Scorpio]
“Sometimes, a particularly powerful Mercury-Neptune aspect can keep the mind in an acute confused state, or just plagued with disorganization. This is an aspect which is prone to misunderstandings in life, and the person often has difficulty in explaining themselves clearly, with many feeling as if their words don’t adequately express the depths of their inner thoughts. There is a heightened sensitivity to criticism. Sometimes it may be difficult to get a straight answer from Mercury-Neptune as the individual is plugged into a world which is hard to elucidate. There is a great sadness around being unheard. What they are saying does not always come across clearly, and in time, this creates a feeling of separation, even if, on the whole, they have a mind that can cross boundaries and relate on many levels. Words can be frustrating and filled with emotional complexity. Sadly, they are oftentimes perceived as less intelligent than they really are. There is usually a talent in creative writing or the ability to perceive hidden dimensions…”

I don’t have to be hateful. I can just say, “bless your heart”.
The world of celebrity is just not the glamorous and exclusive entity that it once was. The place is a freaking circus now. It’s unbearable to watch. These people aren’t stars. Stars are mysterious, elusive, mythical. I miss the illusionary and myth-making genius of old hollywood.
